I figured I would have a happy post while we are having the calm before the storm. I happened to be reading an old friend's blog when she had happened to post some beautiful words for Tanner.
She hit the nail on the head by saying that we couldn't be called high school "best friends," because we were more than that. We were inseparable, linked at the hip and had our own language.
She has always had such an eloquent way with words that I never have had. The things she posted about my son brought tears to my eyes, I could barely get through her entire post without the effort of blinking through the tears.
Her kind and touching post can be found here.
Thank you so much for making my day, Bean. Even though the different paths we have taken in our lives, I know that we are still inseparable in ways that no one would understand. I love you.
I have also posted pictures of a happier time before we knew about all of this that is going on.
These pictures were taken by my wonderfully talented, beautiful, amazing step sister when he was about an hour old...
These pictures were taken by Kollin as the Bella Babies photographer came to our room in the hospital to take cutie patutie pictures of the little guy...
He is such a perfect and content baby. He never fusses unless the nurses are messing with him with all the tests they have to do. He just lounges around either sleeping or looking at you and studying your face.
I will always love these pictures. They will remind me of a better time, and a time before he was given away to doctors and came back with scars.
I know there will be happy times ahead of us, but these will always make me smile. I hope they do the same for you.

ReplyDeleteFollowed the link, as well. You must be a very special person to earn that sort of loyalty. Hugs to you as you make this difficult journey. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm here thanks to Casey. My first child gave us a scare with her heart, but it was nothing compared to what you've been through. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you travel to Stanford for surgery.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are beautiful! I am hoping that Casey's post will lead other heart families to you. I will have to scour my reader and see who I can find for you!
ReplyDeleteHang in there and enjoy your gorgeous boy!
Here via Moosh. Your son is gorgeous. My thoughts are with you and your family. Luck and health to little Tanner

ReplyDeleteLinked here via Moosh. Sending you my thoughts, hope and prayers for a successful surgery and full healing. Tanner is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCame here from Moosh.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how you're feeling. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I am also here from Casey's. I had a premature baby and spent too much time in the hospital myself. We are sending you very positive thoughts from Denver!
ReplyDeleteI also followed Casey's blog to your site. I would like to send you prayers for your son. I would also like to tell you that I have a baby girl with a complicated heart. She is now 2.5 years old and doing great. No one's experience is the same but I want you to know that doctors can do amazing things and those scars you refer to will someday be a reminder of what a miracle your beautiful child is. If you would like to talk to someone who has been through a similar but different experience, I would be happy to listen or share. Here is a blog I kept for friends and family before, during and after our hospital stay. This has updates from the hospital. They are pretty factual without too many details but I thought you might want to see what we went through.

You can email me at livimarlin@gmail.com if you would like to talk or have any questions. I know our situations are different and you may not be at all interested but the offer stands if it could help in any way. Sincerely, one heart mama to another,
angie
Thinking of you and your sweet boy. Praying that surgery will go well & that you will be home together soon.
ReplyDeleteFollowed the same link and want to wish you all the courage and strength you need, from one mother to another.
ReplyDeletePrecious baby! Prayers for your family.
ReplyDeleteI know this all seems so scary and unmanageable, but the things surgeons can do now are almost miraculous. My great-nephew is one of those kids born with serious heart (and other) problems that required surgeries, and he is now a super-active three year old who has grown up strong and healthy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending good thoughts for the best outcome.
Prayers for your family and your sweet little boy. I cannot imagine what you're going through. I'm so sorry and I hope the surgery is successful.
ReplyDeletebest of luck ali. we are always praying for you. there will be many happy times ahead. we love you guys!
ReplyDeleteHere via Moosh. Prayers are with you and your family at this time. My 3 yr old daughter had a coarc repair at 1 week old and was in the cath lab yesterday for a repair on her aortic valve. Your baby is in great hands and we will be praying for your precious baby boy.
ReplyDeleteI too followed Casey's link. Your little boy is amazing and beautiful. I don't really "pray", but I will keep him and your whole family in my most sacred thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous baby you have! Congratulations. I will be thinking of all of you.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of Casey's friends, and wanted to wish you and your family well. My oldest (now 12, and nearly as tall as his Mama!) had heart problems as an infant and my heart truly goes out to you. All my best to you!
ReplyDeleteI came from Casey's as well.. I had to stop by and let you know I will certainly send my prayers. I have a Tanner too although he's a happy healthy 6 year old his older brother was a preemie born at 28 weeks. Although our stories are very different I know the stress of being far away from home and fear of the unknown. He's beautiful and I wish you all well.
ReplyDeleteI'm here from Casey as well. She's fabulous and if she loves you, than you must be as well. Just wanted to tell you that Tanner is beautiful. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
